St John Hospital
Our family picnic this year was at Riverside Park, in Vanderhoof. It was a great park. Right beside the covered picnic area, was a playground. (I wish the playground was covered too - it was a hot day.) The kids enjoyed playing in the sand as well as on all the climbing structures.
It was great fun, until Rowan got hurt. He was playing under the teeter-totters when he stood up underneath one and the bolt on the bottom of the seat cut into his head. He cried, and bled. Blood is very bright and shocking on such blond hair. Luckily, Auntie Jenni was nearby and cleaned him up with her first aid skills. (Thank you!) As is common with most head wounds, it was a small cut with lots of blood. An hour later, the cut was still seeping a little bit of blood and slightly open, so I took Rowan to the St John Hospital (where I was born) and got him patched up. Lucky for him, these days they don't suture in spots where a scar won't matter... so the nurse glued the wound closed and we were done.
