Some Olympics pictures

It has been a lot of fun already, and there are still ten days to go! We are off to the Sweden-Germany hockey game tonight. But here is what we have been up to so far:

Here is the Olympic clock--day 0000!

Here are the little snowboarders. Shaun White watch out!

Here we are on the patio at the Pan Pacific hotel. I knew there was a good view from here, so we just walked on up to the patio. It was a little wet and windy, though.

Here is a photo of the infamous flame, located at 'Gitmo on Burrard Inlet'. I see in the news today that they have cut a hole in the fence so you can get a better picture. But it still stinks. $1 billion for security and they can't afford a handful of beefy mounties to protect the flame from ne'er-do-wells?

Here we are at the Mint Pavilion on Friday. There were no crowds on Friday. We were lucky to get in when we did! The staff was all fresh and were hovering around us. After a few days of big crowds, I bet visitors didn't get the attention that we did!

Here we are with some boys who carried the torch in Abbottsford a few days earlier. There were a number of people like them with torches posing for pictures around downtown. Very nice of them!

Finally, here is a picture of Harriet watching the fireworks that went off in Burrard Inlet after Gretzky rode the pickup truck down to light the flame. Harriet thought is was so funny when we saw dozens of people running at top speed down Burrard and down Thurlow to try to get to the pickup truck before it went past. The flame is right at the foot of Thurlow St--and you can see it all the way down the hill from Robson.
